This is a very complicated story about magic and romance. It's mostly a fantasy action novel about family battles and defeating the beast. It's based off of beauty and the beast (I think) but it is nothing like the original and is about as unique as a story can get! I loved the use of bright imagery and all of the different types of magic used in this novel. I'm a novice to that kind of thing so at first I was a little overwhelmed but as the story developed I grew into a HUGE fantasy nerd. This story is as exciting as it is heart wrenching. You never know what's going to happen/who's going to get hurt/or even if the protagonists are going to win! If you're looking for a story that will keep you on your toes, the hunter is going to do just that. Very fast paced story set in a wonderful world of magic.

This is a vamp! Justice! Fantasy romance novel full of hard action and blood sucking goodness!
Let me just start out by saying this is novel is amazing. I loved the realistic- almost like ours- world it's set in and even more I love the characters! Jon is a noble man you can't help but fall in love with. He's a perfect protagonist to this vampire battle and you'll find yourself cheering for him both on and off the field throughout the whole thing. Lawan is an alcoholic with a horrifying past.
She hates vampires for what they've done to her and she won't stop until each and every one of them is dead- particularly the ones who share a bloodline with our protagonist, Jon.
When she comes into the story it's kind of like a left field swing. She's a hard and heavy hitter who can only see things one way. But that's all about to change...
The action in this novel was spectacular. You never forget these are super half-dead humans you're reading about and I loved it! But even though they aren't human, they do still have human tendencies that make it easier to relate to them and fall in love with their unusual species.
As far as the romance goes, I was not disappointed.
At first I was afraid it was going to turn into something like Twilight, but not at all. Much better developments and a COMPLETELY different story.
I recommend this for vamp! fantasy fans, for sure.

Davi Rating: 5.0 Magical Holiday Romance Toward the end of this novel, there is a ball. (Mistletoe, Washington's Christmas Dance) Why am I bringing this up? That was absolutely my favorite scene of all! It was such a romantic setting and it brought the whole story to a fabulous conclusion! It made me want to drag my Boy Toy to the nearest ballroom, pop on a gown, and make him dance with me! Stunning imagery throughout this whole book and way to get me emotionally attached to these characters, girly! But it's not all dim lighting and classical tunes, ladies. There were quite a few jabs in here that made me laugh so loud I got weird looks from the people riding the bus with me! This main girl, Grace, is to die for. She's such a strong woman in her own way, it was so refreshing to see her let up toward the end, you know? Give up some of that control. As for Ayden, I think that sex god made a perfect hero for our heroine. I love love love love holiday fiction, and this was no exception. It tied romance into the season and create a spectacular meeting and relationship development between the two characters. Only thing that would make this better is if it were longer and all of the add ons were more of that erotica! Melt some of that snow with fiery passion, right, ladies? Gentlemen? Anyway, I loved this.

Rating: 5.0
In Mistletoe is a comedic holiday romance full of light deceit and suspense. The main characters are polar opposites when it comes to what/who takes precedence in their lives.
Grace worries about anyone and everyone but herself (namely her engaged sister) while Ayden refuses to let anyone else into his life. It's a ying/yang relationship that catches both off guard when they realize that despite their differences, they're perfect for one another. In a way, they complete each other.
As far as the actual story goes...
Grace's sister skips town just before her wedding. Since she's vicariously living through her sister's life, Grace doesn't hesitate to play hero in running after her. Where her search leads her? The town of Mistletoe!
Thinking he can help in her search, Grace agrees to deceive Ayden's sister into believing they're in a relationship. I always find these silly little situations hilarious, so I thought that was a warm and welcome development to this story and an appropriate compromise given the characters.
Alright, so no spoilers.
But if you're looking for a warm and cozy holiday romance to kick off this winter season, you can't go wrong with "In Mistletoe".
I received a free pre-release copy of this novel from the author.

This was such a fast read! You pick it up and Bam! Before you know it you've read the whole thing!! From the get go you're caught by the writing style and introduction to these relatable, almost over the top characters. It draws you in with drama, suspense, and intrigue. I could see some of these events playing out in like a TV drama. The bride goes missing, the sister makes it her mission to drag her back for the perfect wedding, the stubborn help who turns out to be some hunky arm candy! Really, the whole thing would make a fascinating movie as far as romantic holiday drama goes. (A guilty pleasure movie I would definitely go see)
The reading flows easy. This isn't one of those novels where the writer tries to trip you up by showing off their ridiculous vocabulary. This author instead focuses on the story and character developments, which I personally prefer. In Mistletoe is a fun, thought out romance that is perfect for reading beside a fireplace with a cup of cocoa in hand!

This is a very sweet romance story about a girl who fixes the lives of everyone but herself. She's very set in her ways, so you can tell she's been doing this for a while. She's so caught up in everyone else's lives that she can't focus on her own!! Sadly, I have been there so I know what that's like. It made it very easy to relate to her character and kept me invested in the outcome. Ayden, the man Grace meets when trying to find her sister, took me a little longer to warm up to. He's got his guard up and seems more than a little stubborn. He does NOT want to fall in love, and he makes it very clear. But with his own family pusher, he thinks he may have found just the right person to bring him back into the clear. Yes, a plot is afoot, for he wants to use Grace as a fake girlfriend in exchange for helping her with her own sister issues. This book has a steady build as far as romance goes, I liked that. Eventually, you warm up to all of the characters and feel your heart swoon the further and further the relationship develops. All in all I absolutely loved this book. It is a perfect holiday romance for the season and I recommend it to all readers of the romance genre!

Carla
Rating: 4.5 Ayden, what a SASS hat! OMG he is seriously such a misunderstood tool at first! Not going to lie, tho, I did grow to love that clown. His story is brave and admirable, even if it's not talked about quite as much as Grace's since the story focuses mainly in the fact that she's trying to find a runaway bride. (Her sister- I don't think that counts as a spoiler cuz it's really early in the story!!) Still, his character is certainly described in the most perfect f*ckin way ever just to make you fall in love with that tool. He's a sexy soldier with a heart long since locked away, but the holiday fairies aren't having any of that bull. As date would have it, Grace is about to barreling into his life and right through that steel cage around his cold and dreary heart! Not gonna lie, I found myself fangirling over this pair on more that one occasion. Steady/kind of faster paced story so long as it's your kind of genre. Recommended for romance and holiday fiction fans.

Jess
Rating: 4.5 Okay, I have to love a story with a main character that has the same appearance and practically identical personality as me I mean hellooo~ can she get any more perfect? Bland brunette my butt! She is gorgeous inside and out and as the story progresses, IT SHOWS! I love transformation pieces like this. They really catch the reader's attention and leave you with some sort of an after thought. In this case I got a better look of myself through Jess partially because we are spookily similar. She's got that mother hen thing going for her and from experience I do know that can get a bit extreme and overwhelming. It was a good experience for me to see or well, read it, I suppose, on someone else. Noooot always an attractive look, I've realized. Because of Grace's dilemma, she meets Ayden, a real man and her best hope in feeding her "lifestyle"/as it turns out, changing it. As I said this is a transformation story about two very different individuals coming together and changing for the better. Change is a good thing and "In Mistletoe" really emphasizes this point. This is my favorite holiday romance so far and it's made me pumped for the season!

This is a surprisingly suspenseful romance about Darcy and her first love Zach, the one that got away. After Darcy makes a huge decision without Zach, he's sent off to military school, never to be seen again. Well... that's what she thought, anyway. At their sudden and unexpected reunion, emotions sprint for the surface, threatening to change the course of both of their lives. They have both long since moved on from one another, but will things change when they reunite? Is the one that got away still within arm's reach? Or is anger the real emotion hidden beneath the surface? This is a heavy, sexual romance with twists and turns galore! At some parts I was rooting for one outcome, in others another, and every now and again I had no idea what I wanted, but the ending was absolutely perfect. In this novel it's hard to predict what's going to happen since there is so much going on, but it's a ride I most certainly enjoyed and was not disappointed by. I recommend this book for suspenseful romance fans.

Tipping Point is a powerful and complex story of intrigue and deceit that takes readers on a ride into the dark politics of climate change.

REVIEW:

Mary Beth
Rating: 5.0
Tipping point is an exciting thriller! It's based around the characters Joe Hawkins and Katie Farrow. Both have gone into hiding, which you learn after an exciting, murderous beginning. As it happens, tipping point is a sequel to a novel I haven't read, "Skin in the game". Although, as I said, I have not read the set up for this novel, I found it can easily be read on it's own. The novel is about corporate greed and escaping the confines and control of the government.
That said, Joe and Katie refuse to simply run from the torture and torment that's been following them since the happenings of the first novel. They are going to fight back and they are going to make a difference! This plot is riveting. I was on the edge of my seat from beginning to end and at parts almost feared I'd become TOO invested in these two protagonists.
The themes of this thriller include government corruption, action, heroism, politics, torture, and much, much more. It's truly horrifying to read stories like this because the average person, if this were real, would seemingly be powerless and/or uninformed. So it's a comfort to follow Joe and Katie as they showcase the fact that they are complete and total bad asses, even if they are more or less forced into showing it.
From describing the Iceland hideaway to the characters' fear and adrenaline, this author has mastered it all. It's a poetic, unusual writing style and I've fallen in love with it.
If you're looking for a fast paced, action packed thriller where you'll be rooting for the heroes at every turn of the "page", this is it!

But has Joe left it too late to save their marriage? Can he get to Evie before she chooses Jake? Or can he convince her one last time that they belong together?

REVIEW:

Margie
Rating: 5.0
This is what I like to call a "Grass is greener" romance. Evie believes her husband has given up on them. He doesn't love her so their marriage is over. It's a really sad thing to think, so I completely understand where she's coming from when she runs off to soothe her broken heart. It's in Cornwall where she sparks a new romance with an exotic, sexy, and talented rock singer, Jake.
BUT, little does she know her husband hasn't given up on their marriage just yet! He loves her, truly loves her, and he's not going to stop until she's back in his arms.
Misunderstandings and lack of communication are often the downfall of many relationships. That said, once the rift is set, it's hard to overcome it.
I loved the concept, lesson, and execution of this romance novel. Another Summer has a steady pace that makes it easy to read line after line without losing focus.
The author has a powerful voice for story telling and I hope to read more of her work in the near future!
My only note is that I wish it were LONGER! The suspense was fantastic, so naturally I crave more! (Even if it didn't end how I originally expected-- dun dun dun)

Oh I am so glad I got approved to read this book! It just looked so gosh darn adorable as far as the description and cover goes, I had to request it! Now I'm happy to say that it follows through with the book's interior, as well! At times, this is a sweet romance story about Samantha, a new to the southern country city girl with aspirations of becoming a wildlife photographer, and Elliott, a strong, handsome cowboy. At other times, this sweet story takes a dark, heavy, suspenseful turn or two. This isn't just a romance, it's a thriller! Elliott lost who he thought was the only woman he could ever love, but when Samantha comes into the picture, he starts to feel something he hasn't felt in a long time. She's a warm little dork when it comes to nature and truly a dove when it comes to her fragility. He wants to protect her from the dangers she's soon to face and this creates a terrifying bond of intimacy between them. This is a lovely suspenseful romance and it deserves all five stars!

DESCRIPTION: What if you were mistaken for a criminal and abducted by aliens?

REVIEW:

Sammy
Rating: 4.0
I first picked up this book because I thought an accidental abduction would be a hilarious plot for a novel. As it turns out, this book has more going for it than simply good humor. It's far heavier science fiction than I originally suspected, and because of this I was pleasantly surprised.
Yes, this is first and foremost a romance novel. Genesis is a wonderful, powerful female lead which many people know I look for in ever novel I've ever read. It's important to host non-stereotypical female characters in a story, as you're making an imprint on those who read your work.
Abduction does this.
I didn't feel I've read characters or a story line like this before and the technology makes this novel stand out from a science fiction point of view. I could tell the author put a lot of work into making this an authentic, entertaining piece of work and I appreciate that.
This story is for science fiction, action, suspense, and romance readers. I give it 4.0 for originality, entertainment, and a distinct beginning, middle, and end.

REVIEW:

Margie
Rating: 4.5
This is a very dark and almost crude novel about some disturbing topics most wouldn't dare talk about. I appreciate the author's bravery in speaking his voice on the matters at hand.
This book is one of those reads that jump around a lot. It's hard to keep up at points but over all this method kept my interest, making this a fast read.
The mysterious aspects come mainly from information that is steadily unraveled throughout the novel. This helps to not overwhelm the reader since there is just so much going on. If it were written any other way I feel I would have lost interest, so to me this writing style is perfect for the heaviness of this novel. Some dark themes include underaged pornography and well, crime, of course. But there is also a little heart to heart lighting up the pages, as well. Over all I liked the suspense and the mystery. It was a pleasant, VERY DARK read that just so happens to be right up my alley!
I would recommend this to readers who don't mind a dark, mysterious journey that has the potential to get "under your skin", so to speak.
I look forward to reading more of this author's work since I'm assuming this is the intriguing style he follows.
Excellent dark mystery!

I just ADORE the dynamic of Mark and Lucy's relationship. They love one another and they're both secretly freaks! What's not to love? Sexual fantasies for this couple is not a thing they discuss. They love each other and they're content with how things are. BUT it is something they do eventually experiment with because, let's get real, things can always be better in the realm of sexy time.
This author's writing is hot Hot HOT! Yes, you will need that cold shower ladies and gentlemen!
Sexual fantasies are typically something you only share with a person you trust. A person you know won't judge you for them.
This is a story about a couple not only opening up this whole new chapter in their sex life, but their marriage, as well. It's not just sexy, or freaky, or fucking amazing, it's also romantic... in a really weird, twisted way that you'll only understand if you know how hard it is to express yourself completely and in full with the person you love.
I have to give this five stars because it is as brilliant and sexy as it is sweet. Lovely combination!
I recommend this for any and all fans of erotica. It's really a must read for anyone with fantasies. Oh! And another thing! It's actually kind of short, which makes it fast and fun! You can sit down with it and finish it in... oh... maybe an hour? Hour and a half? I love erotica like that. Fast and engaging. Doesn't everyone?

"There is peace in the world and civility reigns. It's like our idealistic misconception of the 1950s has become real." --Hector Garza, President of the United States GundTech is a giant international corporation based in Oslo, Norway. Its success is built upon the work of a wunderkind who created the multiCom computer, with an Artificial Intelligence (AI) personality at its core. Under the pretext of protecting the privacy of the young genius, the corporation has never divulged his or her identity. MultiComs are pervasive throughout society. They're at work, in schools, and in homes. It has become tradition that users name their multiComs. Personal AIs often adopt the surname of their primary user. A peculiarity of the multiCom AI is that it will only respond if user requests contain a 'please' and are acknowledged with a 'thank you.' Even presidents and prime ministers must be polite to their multiComs. Some sociologists claim that the basic decency requirements have contributed to civility in contemporary society. Now, sixteen years later, the reclusive former child prodigy is about to unleash a technological revolution that could threaten a peaceful world. The Interactive Holographic Transporter (IHT) may render the current computing industry obsolete, instantly shaking the world economy to its core. IHT technology may also be physically dangerous and pose a threat to personal privacy. When GundTech introduces the IHT, they also announce the formation of an IHT academy that will allow select students from around the world to take part in a virtual class. These events set two teens on a path that will entwine their lives with those of a young reporter and the former child prodigy. Cameron Rush and Rosa Costas are best friends, even though they have never met in person. Cameron lives in Troy, a small town in Wisconsin, while Rosa lives on a ranch outside Albuquerque, New Mexico. Unabashed technology geeks, they become friends on the comNet while competing in a contest sponsored by GundTech. They are typical fifteen-year-olds living in their isolated worlds of family, school and friends. Cameron's schoolmates call him boring. He's an A/B student, second-seat trumpet in the school band, fourth-string halfback, and tenth-man on the basketball team. He is unbelievably meek and takes grief for it from others. He likes a challenge. At 5'-1", Rosa Costas is vivacious and petite. She is as outgoing as Cameron is meek. A friend once described her as "a hundred-pound package wrapped in a ton of personality." Rosa is also deceptively tough. Her mantel full of rodeo trophies attests to this fact. On the weekends and during vacations, she works as a cowgirl on a ranch. She is adept at languages and, like Cameron, enjoys solving puzzles and overcoming challenges. Meagan Fletcher, technology reporter for the World Broadband Network, has never named her multiCom AI. Because she knows the potential dangers technology can pose, she prefers to use her multiCom in manual mode, bypassing the AI altogether. She doesn't trust it--and she trusts GundTech even less. It is a company that seems too good to be true. Meagan is on a mission to expose the mysterious inventor behind GundTech and discover the computer company's true intent. As Rosa, Cameron, and Meagan race toward their destiny, they are oblivious to the dangers that lie ahead.

I would have LOVED to find a book like this when I was younger! It's a heavy YA science fiction novel about a group of kids and the incredible developments in science! I must confess, when I read all of those awesome quotes from big time review companies, I thought... "Seriously"? But YES. SERIOUSLY. I could easily see this turned into a science fiction movie or at least one of those mandatory school book reads for young adults in either middle or high school. Aside from the heavy science fiction, you learn a great deal of life lessons in this, too. Particularly, this story revolved around the relationship of friends, since this is about a group of futuristic kids, although mainly a girl and a boy who live very far apart. Thanks to technology, it feels as though there is no distance between them, and I feel if this weren't fiction, the world would be much better off. We'd be in tune, cultured in ways we simply cannot be today, and not nearly as heart broken as we so often are. I felt this novel had a steady pace. It held my interest the whole way through. The fact that the author uses description so beautifully only helps the already engaging plot. I adored the writing style, especially since it is a little unique. I hope this book gains in popularity, because it deserves a chance to hit the spotlight!

Satan's Plot Fantasy/Paranormal

Satan's Plot

By: Percy G. Phillips
Genres: Fantasy, Paranormal

DESCRIPTION: The real world is heading towards economic and societal collapse; a catastrophe of human suffering that is being deliberately orchestrated by those with control in the afterlife.
One man will have the power to resist the establishment's dire plans for humanity. They know him as the Newcomer and they want him erased from the multiverse. But the Newcomer has a different agenda, one that will lead him into a confrontation that could threaten the very existence of the real world and the afterlife. The book takes a critical philosophical look at religion, cultural norms, human behaviour, modern economics and the ruling 'establishment'.

From the cover (Yea, I like covers. Sue me. It's not going away any time soon.) you can tell this is going to be a dark, kind of creepy story, right? I mean, come on, it's the stuff on nightmares right there! As a lover of everything horror, I found this piece of work exotic! It's listed as Paranormal Fantasy, but don't be fooled! There is a LOT of horror/thriller in there, too!
The set up for this story is very unique. The underworld is controlling these devastating blows to the humanity above and they/we are powerless against it! Will humanity be saved...? Or will we fall to the powers of Satan?
This story is dark and twisted, just how I like it. It's not exactly how I pictured the afterlife to be, but I suppose that's part of the fun. The author kind of twists the nature of religion to go deeper with it, if that's makes sense? It's a very "toy with what you think you know" piece of work that does an excellent job mutating the human psyche and our "norms". Personally, I found this exciting! It was a new take on evil and a new take on humanity/life as a whole.
As for the protagonist, he's a brave soul willing to put himself on the line in an attempt to change the course Satan has set for us weak, culturally manipulated humans. So, you've got to love the "Newcomer".
I like the themes and I like the execution of this original plot.
I hope to read more from this author in the near future!

It's safe to say everyone knows I have an obsession with books covers. They're important because they set the mood for the novel and this cover is a perfect example of that! Immediately, I was drawn to this book. I didn't have to read the description to know this was going to be a suspenseful mystery because the cover already told me so. Excellent choice, Ms. George! The style and image create an exciting gateway to the suspenseful like SERIOUSLY SUSPENSEFUL journey Bess George has written for us! Jaxon and Charlie both have incredible, well developed backstories that MAKE this novel what it is... A mind twisting work of fiction that will keep you glued to it's pages until you hit that glorious finale! The characters, as I've said, are wonderful. They're real, easy to relate to, and just over all very strong fictional characters. It was easy to feel attached to them and their stories both as individuals and as partners on this twisted, investigative journey. I felt this work was of a fast pace. There was a lot of questions that popped into my mind while reading it, so I was desperate to keep scrolling until they were all answered. The series "A Hidden Dangers" is going to be a very successful string of fiction if the rest of the novels are even half as capturing as this one! Well done, Ms. George and please please please keep up the good work!

This is a longer story that requires a little extra time and attention to fully appreciate. I'd say it's almost a dark historical romance about slavery, racism, multiracial relationships, commitment, and manipulation.
The feel of this novel, including the romance, isn't quite as light as I'm used to. In fact, it's very heavy because it's very real.
There was a lot of drama in this novel caused by things, I think most people can agree, would be considered ridiculous in this day and age. That's of course a good thing because it struck a chord for me as a reader. It got me invested in Thandi's life as a slave, lover, and human being.
The historical racism, manners, setting, and text are on point. And anyone who knows me as a reader/reviewer knows I can't get enough of accurate historical fiction!
Thandi is a slave who falls in love with the man of the house she serves. As a reader, it was easy to sympathize with her character. She's a passionate woman, so it's no wonder another man falls for her while her married lover, Tom, is out.
At first, I found it kind of hard to place just how I felt about Tom. But as the story unraveled, I grew rather fond of his character.
I usually have an issue with longer stories, but the author's writing style made this a smooth and enjoyable journey. As always, I try to keep away from spoilers, but this is truly an interesting, dark, and suspenseful take on historical romance that I think many readers will enjoy.

Catch Me Erotica/Sci-fi/Fantasy

Catch Me

By: Alianne Donnelly
Genres: Erotica, Sci-fi, Fantasy

DESCRIPTION: Snow White's Rebels get their due...
Life is good. The evil queen is dead, the war is over, and Haig is swimming in pussy. Enjoy it while it lasts, eh? At least that was the plan before Queen Snow saddled him with a mission to take out a serious threat to her rule. Easy enough, in and of itself. Trouble is, the assignment comes with a new partner: the Huntsman’s drop-dead gorgeous daughter. Aislin’s got legs for miles, an ass to bring a man to his knees, tits that just won’t quit, and a stare cold enough to freeze Haig’s balls off from twenty yards away. Worse, she’s adamant about staying on task and keeping chaste, despite the sparks that fly whenever they even brush shoulders. Silly girl. Challenge accepted…

Catch me is a sexy "after math" Snow White story. It starts just after the evil queen is dispatched. With her out of the way, it's time for new order in a mystical world of Ms. Donnelly's own creation!
Before I get to the sex, which might I add was professionally done, I'd like to take a moment to appreciate just how UNBELIEVABLY well the setting in this story was described! This author's use of description is fantastic! I love when I can so perfectly visualize where the characters are and what's going on and Donnelly has managed to pull that off without a jumbling excess of words. (I've always found run ons untidy and distracting when setting scenes... Even if I do the same. Ha! There's a reason I read instead of write!)
Now onto the story (sex)...
Okay, a lot of sex. Haig is a manwhore, so what do you expect!?? Other than his smexy side, Haig is hilarious. He keeps the story upbeat with quips and just his over all ridiculousness.
By far my favorite character which is why I'm mentioning him so much.
As for the others, they're all unique characters of fantasy with gifts that add to the charming fact that at it's heart, this is a fairytale set in a gorgeous make believe place.
As a reader, I typically lean toward the shorter stories with a faster pace since I tend to lose interest if they're too long or too slow. Despite it's steady pace, "Catch Me" held my attention throughout the entire novel. It was a steady read interesting enough to keep picking up, so I've got to give the authors props for that!
This is an excellent work of erotic fantasy that I will be recommending for adults seeking a little extra something something to their late night reads.

Alright. This is a five star must-read right here!
Izzy is the tough, sexy Latino bad girl of every kinky man's dreams! Like the title suggests, she is a desirable beauty full of deceit. This is a woman who knows what she wants and won't think twice about manipulating people into doing her dirty work for her. Even so, Sean, her boy toy, knows there's more to this sex goddess than a hot body and devil's persona. She's got a softer side, and he's going to bring it out.
This is an erotic telling of a bad girl's transformation into her true potential.
I adore Izzy at the start of the story, but by the end I think it's safe to say I fell in love with her more vulnerable, not quite as hot headed self. She's an excellent main character and a role model for those of us perhaps not fortune enough to have that white picket fence upbringing.
As for the writing style, this is a fast read given the well described setting and unraveling drama. I would definitely watch a soap opera about these characters, just saying! It's got heat, passion, and a whole lot of drama!

Riley must remain objective, save the women, and avert the threat. But after that, can he convince Chip that she wants to wear his ring forever?

REVIEW:

Sammy
Rating: 4.5
Beyond Duty is a standalone despite being the third book in the North Star Security series.
This book is heavy on the "Secret Agent" aspect. It's all about deceit, finding a kidnapper, and keeping things platonic between Chip and Riley.
Chip is a very strong female character. I'm always looking for a character like her in the books I read, so I was pleased to find she's a huge part of this story. The beauty of powerful women is often overlooked, so I feel a I must also give the author "props" for pulling that off.
Riley, likewise, is a strong male character. Both are agents assigned to portray a married couple in order to complete their mission.
Their mission being to find a kidnapping victim/Chip's personal friend.
As things get more and more intense, real feelings of romance between the pair start to surface.
Given the situation, I feel the author did a fantastic job of keeping the stressful situation light for the reader by adding tasteful lines of humor throughout the text.
Although humor is not a main category for this book, it is in there.
As a whole, this romance/suspense novel is pretty well done. I would have liked more romance, but what is not said is made up for by actions that clearly express Chip and Riley's romantic feelings without the need for sexual intimacy.
The writing style is engaging, making this a relatively fast read for fans of romantic suspense.

REVIEW:

Rating: 5.0
Before She Became A Lady is a suspenseful mystery romance. I absolutely loved laurel, the main character! At the start of the story, she is the poster child for innocence, followed by light rebellion. She's just a girl when she falls in love and chooses to marry, but throughout the coarse of the book you get to see her evolve into a real woman.
I thought reading this text was much like watching a butterfly break from it's cocoon - artful, pleasant, and suspenseful.
When her husband has to up and leave for war, Laurel is left alone to face the terrors that flood the night. Alone and in charge, Laurel has no choice but to step up to the plate and solve these break in mysteries.
The romance and suspense were spot on perfection! I'm not just saying that. I mean I honest to god felt like I was Laurel on multiple occasions and it scared the hell out of me!! (Not the love making! That part was very romantic and not at all scary, I promise. This isn't Mr. Penn.)
I loved the historical time period, as well. It's no secret I'm obsessed with historical fiction and the mannerisms and setting in this book specifically did NOT disappoint! In fact, this is one of the best historical romances I have ever read! It's truly capturing, breathtaking, and a lot of other -ings! I recommend this book for those who enjoy a little mystery added to their historical romance.
